ELIGIBILITY

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS for all applicants in all categories.

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • Canadian citizen / permanent resident and currently residing in Ontario. A copy of government issued photo ID (i.e. Driver’s License or Passport) is needed as proof for points 1 and 2.
  • Should be 50% (or more) owner of a for-profit, registered business that is not more than five years old.  For the Start Me Up category, the business must be less than two years old
  • Personal income must be less than $50,000 per annum. The Canada Revenue Agency‘s notice of assessment for the previous financial year is required.
  • Credit score should be above 650, unless you are applying under the Start Me Up category.
 

Ignite Capital invites entrepreneurs across Ontario to apply now for the 2017 pitch competition, which will be organized in the following four categories.

Young Entrepreneur Category

Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 29. A copy of government issued photo ID (i.e. Driver’s License or Passport) is needed as proof.

Women Entrepreneur Category

This category is open to women of all ages.

 

 

Immigrant Entrepreneur Category

This category is dedicated to help aspiring entrepreneurs who are also new immigrants to Canada. To apply in this category, you must be a legal resident of Canada within the last 10 years. Proof of your immigration status showing 10 years or less in Canada (a scanned copy of your passport or the landing document) needs to be submitted.

START ME UP
CATEGORY

This category is reserved for entrepreneurs whose credit score is less than 650 and whose registered business is under two years old. Please be prepared to explain to the review committee why and how you are in the process of repairing your credit score.

 

Please note that you are welcome to apply to more than one category although you can only be shortlisted to win in one.
